Bangs and Holliday will play all games at Moffett Field in Snyder this coming Friday starting at 7:30pm and again Saturday @ 1pm. Game 3 will follow Game 2, if needed.
Congratulations to 8th grader Kaily Wolf who placed 2nd at the Area IV FFA Speaking Contest in Mineral Wells on Saturday. By placing in the top two, Kaily has advanced to the State Competition. She competed in Soil Stewardship Public Speaking and will now compete at State in July at the Texas FFA State Convention in Dallas. Also pictured are Cameron Rockett who placed 7th in Sr Prepared Public Speaking and Kenedi Deal who placed 5th in Jr Prepared Public Speaking. All three speakers were district champions in their events.
Alana “Ally” Edgin was the district winner for the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) scholarship essay contest. Edgin was honored at the group’s luncheon on Friday, May 10. Edgin’s essay was about how citizen’s responsibilities have changed over the years.
J. B. Stephens Elementary J.B. Stephens Elementary in Bangs will hold Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten registration for the 2013-2014 school year on Monday, May 13, and Tuesday, May 14, from 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. at the elementary office. Birth certificates, social security card, immunization records, and proof of residence are required for registration. SHELBY LIGHT ADVANCES TO UIL STATE CONTEST Shelby Light earned the silver medal in Social Studies and will compete at the state UIL meet on Tuesday, May 21. Other students who placed but did not advance were: Congratulations to all of our UIL teams, many who have been working since September. It has been a great year: a CX debate team to state, 17 academic/speech students to regional and now one going on to the state meet along with the OAP cast. ONE ACT PLAY ADVANCES TO STATE Bangs High School competed in the Region 1 2A Regional OAP competition held in Odessa, TX on April 19, 2013 and is now advancing to state. The state competition will be held on May 21-23, 2013 in Austin, TX at the University of Texas campus. Jim Ned High School’s OAP also advances from the region competition.
