Getting to Know Me:
I graduated from Angelo State University with a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. I started teaching in 1991. I have two children: Heather, who is married and and elementary teacher. Caleb is studying to become a Vocational Agriculture teacher like my husband, Ricky. Ricky and I both attended Bangs High School, so we are "home town" folks! My hobbies include scrapbooking, reading, flower arranging and photography.
My Life's Mission:
My father taught me about having a life's mission. As a farmer and custom harvester, his stated that his mission was to "Help feed the world." I find that my mission seems to change as the seasons of my life change, but a common thread is to remain faithful to those beliefs I hold dear. I believe that God and family must have priority in my life. I believe that teaching is my "calling" in life. I believe it is better to live simply than to live selfishly, trying always to be sensitive to the needs of others and thanksful for all I have.
My Philosophy of Education:
Education is the foundation of all that we become. Education comes from many sources: home, church, school, and experiences. It is my understanding that until basic needs are met, children will likely struggle to grow accademically. It has been said that "It takes a community to raise a child," and as an educator I have the awesome opportunity to impact children in a way that will help shape their future. I feel it is very important that there be team work between families and school personnel if the student is to meet his potential.
