Hello,

My name is Melissa Gravell.  I am a second grade teacher at Bangs JB Stephens Elementary.  I am proud to work at one of the best schools in Texas.  I am honored to be teaching some of the most promising students in Texas as well.  At this point in time, thier minds are an open book.  I am excited to be able to teach them at an early age.  I am always amazed by the students in my class.  Their individual personalities and traits make my job interesting and exciting.  Needless to say, there is never a dull moment.

I have been a teacher for 7 years.  I tought 7th grade science for 5 years, and this will be my 3rd year to teach 2nd grade.  I thoroughly love my job.  I look forward to getting to know the kids in my class.  I like to think of my class as a 'home away from home'.  I feel responsible for my students academically, socially, and emotionally.  I hope that each student feels comfortable to let their personality shine.  I believe each student has something special to offer.

I am a teacher second only to my family.  I have 3 boys that attend school at Bangs.  They are the reason I decided to become a teacher.  I did not know how much I loved children until I had kids of my own.  My husband is a local business owner.  He has a welding business and designs metal buildings, sheds and trailers.  I am proud to come from a family of teachers.  My father and mother have a combined total of 60 years of teaching.  I also have 2 sisters that teach and coach. I have a family with strong moral values and strong christian faith.  I hope to portray this in my teaching.

I can truly say that I look forward to my job.  I LOVE what I do.  I get to be a part of the lives of 20 kids who are just beginning to learn who they really are.  I hope to have a positive impact on their lives.  I am looking forward to another eventful, exciting, fun filled year!

  Sincerely, Mrs. Gravell
