	Daily Schedule

7:50 to 8:00 Breakfast served in classroom*
8:00 to 8:30 Social Studies

8:30 to 9:00 English
9:00 to 10:00 Reading (Homeroom class)

10:05 to 11:05 Activity - PE, Computers, or Art
11:05 to 12:05 Homeroom - Switch to Math with Mrs. Fuqua - (Mrs. Fuqua's class, reading)
12:10 to 12:20 Switch to Homeroom - Oral Reading
12:20 to 12:50 Lunch
12:50 to 1:05 Recess
1:05 to 2:05 Tutorials/Enrichment
2:05 to 2:35 Science
2:35 to 2:55 detention/study hall
*Students must be at school at 7:50 in order to be served breakfast. Class will start at 8:00.


	Current Curriculum

Reading Students read a story each week in the basal reader. We have library on Mondays and Wednesdays. Please make sure that your child reads each night. Students need to read 15 minutes each night for homework. Students should have 10 AR points by the end of each 6-weeks. period. Points start over each 6-weeks.

Math: Subtraction, money, and multiplication

Spelling . Students receive a spelling list on Mondays. Test is on Friday.

English: Parts of Speech/Writing

Science: Rocks/Volcanoes

Social Studies: Globes, Maps, and Continents

	TAKS Information

We will begin TAKS practice soon. Students will be doing practice Reading and Math tests periodically until the test in April. Beginning of the year testing has been completed and students who need additional help are being sent to tutorials. I will be in contact with parents of students who are in danger of failing the test. Please let me know if you have any questions! The TAKS Reading Test requirements have changed. Students will not be required to pass the TAKS Reading Test to be promoted to 4th grade this year. There will only be one opportunity to take the test, instead of 3 like year before last. Students not passing the reading or math tests will be considered for retention, however, the test will not be the only determining factor. Test will be in April this year.
